LED Lighting

What is LED lighting? led lights

An LED is a light emitting diode, a semiconductor chip that emits light when conducting current.

Why use LED lighting versus Incandescent or Compact Flourescent lights (CFL)?

• Safer and Cleaner: No mercury. No heat. No broken glass.
• Durability: Can handle inconsistent power from WAPA without shortening it’s life.
• Longer Lifespan: An LED has 50,000+ hour life. You will need 50 incandescents or 5 Mercury tainted CFL’s to do the job of only 1 LED.
• Energy Efficient: The most efficient lights available!!

Why do I need LED?

One 100 watt bulb costs approximately $43 in electricity to run per year at 12 hours per day. One 10watt LED costs approximately $4.30 in electricity to run per year at 12 hours per day. That is a $38.70 savings on only one fixture, not to mention you will have replaced the incandescent light 4 times that year and your LED will have another 10 years of life left.

How does a 10 watt LED give the same amount of light as a 100 watt incandescent?

Light is measured in lumens. Lumens are the amount of light being generated. A watt is a measure of energy use, not light strength.
